Lamp Posts Converted in to Electric Car Chargers
For the first time in the UK, technology giant Siemens in partnership with Ubitricity (an electric vehicle charging solutions provider), have converted all of the lamp posts on a residential street in London into hidden electric vehicle chargers.
Sutherland Avenue in Westminster is almost 1 kilometre long and now has 24 converted lamp posts along the length of the street, bringing the number of lamp post charging points in Westminster City to almost 300.
Siemens conducted a study that shows more than one third of Brits intend to buy an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle as their next car, and by 2050 as many as one in two cars on UK roads will be electric. According to Siemens, 80% of UK motorists care deeply about air quality and 83% are more concerned about their carbon footprint than in 2015.
Electric vehicle charging lamp posts will help many people without garages or driveways where you would normally charge your car at home to make the switch to electric if their street were equipped with charging lamp posts.
