A Simple Guide to Sourcing Replacement Alloy Wheels

If you need replacement alloy wheels, start by confirming the exact specifications your vehicle requires, then tell us what you are looking for. At Pic-Up Spares, we are a vehicle dismantler and salvage dealer in Swansea, selling new and used car parts to the public and trade. Call or email us to ask whether we have a suitable wheel for your vehicle.

Start with Your Vehicle Details

Before contacting us, gather your vehicle’s make, model, year and, where possible, its registration or vehicle identification number. These details help us understand what you need. If you know which wheel needs replacing, tell us whether it is at the front or rear and on the left or right side.

A wheel can look right but still have specifications that do not suit your vehicle. If you can, check the information in your vehicle handbook or the markings on a wheel already fitted. We can then use the details you provide to discuss the wheel you need.

Confirm the Essential Wheel Measurements

Ask us to confirm the key measurements before buying. The main points to check are:

  • Diameter and width: Diameter is the size of the wheel across the rim, usually given in inches. Width is the distance across the rim, also in inches. Both must suit your vehicle and tyre.
  • PCD or bolt pattern: This is the number of bolt holes and the diameter of the circle they form. It must match your vehicle’s hub.
  • Offset: Offset (ET) is the distance between the wheel’s mounting face and its centreline. It affects how the wheel sits in the arch and against the hub.
  • Centre bore: This is the hole in the centre of the wheel. Confirm that it fits your vehicle’s hub correctly.
  • Load rating: Load rating is the maximum weight the wheel is designed to carry. Check it meets your vehicle’s requirements.

If you are unsure how to read a marking, tell us what is printed on the wheel or share your vehicle details when you contact us. It is better to confirm each specification than to rely on appearance alone.

Check the Condition Carefully

When considering a used wheel, ask us about its condition and check it closely before fitting. Look over the rim and spokes for cracks, bends, deep gouges or other visible damage. Pay attention to the area around the bolt holes and the inner edge, where damage may be less obvious.

A wheel should also be checked for signs of a previous repair. If you know of a previous repair, tell us before you buy. Raise any concerns about its condition or suitability with us too. If you notice vibration, air loss or unusual handling after fitting, get the wheel and tyre looked at straight away.

Ask About Matching Wheels

If you are replacing one wheel, tell us whether you need a single wheel or a matching set. Include the size, PCD, offset, centre bore and load rating if you have them. If the vehicle has non-standard wheels, modifications or a particular brake setup, mention that too, as these details can affect fitment.

You can search and buy new and used car parts through our website. If you cannot see the wheel you need there, call or email us to check availability.

Our Breaking Vehicles List

Our website also has a breaking vehicles list, which shows the vehicles we are currently dismantling for parts. The list does not confirm that a particular alloy wheel is in stock, so please check with us directly before making plans around a specific part.

We are open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. When you get in touch, having your vehicle details and wheel measurements ready can make it easier to discuss what you need. If you do not know a measurement, share what information you do have and ask us for guidance on what to confirm.
